Exercising can help you to improve your health, feel more energized, sleep better, and gain more confidence. It can also help you to achieve many other things as well.

The benefits of exercising are seemingly endless. However, on occasion exercising is not good for you either.

The two most common cases of when exercising is not good for you is when you have a health condition that will be complicated if you continue exercising and when you become addicted to exercise. While the first case may seem obvious, too many people scoff as the idea that a person can become addicted to exercise.

Exercise addiction is something that is very real and which can harm many aspects of your life, including your health, if you do not receive help for it. Fortunately, this addiction is quite rare and much less of a problem that the thousands of people who do not get enough exercise.

One of the initial indicators that you may be exercising too much is if it is causing conflicts with your family, friends and other associates. Addiction to working out is caused by the extreme rise in endorphins when you exercise to a certain extent.

These endorphins make you feel more energetic and happier after you exercise normally. Those who are addicts will exercise to constantly get this rise because the endorphins have become something like a drug to them.

Most people have heard of the runner's high. The runner's high is referring to this rise in endorphins as well and it is a contributing factor to the addiction.

This natural drug is designed to help your body keep going even when it becomes difficult. It was a survival mechanism for the human ancestors.

When you had to run from something, you did not want to have to stop after a couple of minutes in pain. The endorphins helped them to keep running even when their body became tired when they had to.

In most cases, this is all they do when someone exercises. However, when they become an outlet for pleasure or anxiety relief, it becomes a problem.

As stated previously, it is labeled an addiction when exercise begins to create problems with other obligations. Another characteristic of an addiction is that the more a person works out, the more he or she needs to work out.

A severe addiction will cause a person to exercise even when he or she is suffering from an injury. He or she will always try to increase the intensity, length, or difficulty of their work outs.

Addiction can occur not matter what kind of exercise you perform. It can even occur with a seemingly harmless stationary bike or simple walking if you let it.

Stationary bikes can go up to surprising resistances and feature several intense programs. As they also feature low intensity and resistance levels, many people only use these bikes for these low intensity programs.

In addition, these levels are the only ones that they associate with the stationary bike. However, the stationary bike can be a much more complicated exercise tool if you let it and if you learn how to use it.

If you think that you may have an exercise addiction, it is important that you talk to your doctor about it and get help for it. It is still important that you exercise in moderation so that you can receive the health benefits without your work outs compromising your relationships and commitments.

Exercising a normal, healthy amount will help you be able to think clearly, relieve some of the symptoms of depression, lower anxiety levels, and help improve your memory. Some people have even found that exercise works better than medication for their depression if they are suffering from mild to medium depression severity.

All types of exercise can help you gain these benefits if you perform it properly, even stationary biking. Of course, you must not swing to the opposite extreme of addiction and never exercise.

There are many ways to make sure you stay motivated to continue exercising, even if you are limiting yourself to only performing the exercise in moderation. One of the most effective methods of motivating yourself to exercise is to set goals.

These goals define why you are exercising and can help you know what you are working towards so that you will not over exercise. A healthy medium needs to be achieved when it comes to working out on a regular basis.
